Town of Coeburn
Town Manager, Drew Mullins, presented Council members last week with a proposed Budget for the towns take over of the Public Works Department. When compared the towns projected budget line-item-by-line-item with VWNA current contract, the Town Manager has estimated a monthly cost to operate public works of $84,377 per month in comparison with VWNA monthly cost of $117,866, which represents a monthly savings of $33,489 per month or $401,871 per year. In addition, the Towns Public works projected budget included adding 3 part-time public works positions and a 10% contingency equaling $112,648 which may bring extra savings to the town, if not used. The town offered the VWNA employees continued employment with the town in their current capacity and eleven VWNA employees have applied and were granted positions with the town.

Coeburn Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade

Christmas Tree Lighting

6:30 P.M. - Robert Hale Ampitheatre

The town Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Robert Hale Amphitheatre. Light refreshments will be served inside the Train Depot following the ceremony.

Annual Christmas Parade

December 7th, 2012
6:30 P.M. - Downtown Coeburn

Coeburn's annual Christmas Parade will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. The theme for 2012 is 'Star of Wonder.' Pre-registration is not required, but you may do so by calling 276.395.3323 Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 4:30. You may also download a registration form and bring it with you the day of the parade.

Lineup will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Marty Shopping Center. The parade will proceed from the Marty Shopping Center down the service road onto Front Street to the intersection of Front and Grand.

A performance by the Center Stage Cloggers will be held at the Robert Hale Amphitheatre at 5:30 pm before the parade.
